His Office alter ego Jim just had a baby with unrequited-love-turned-wife Pam, but John Krasinski isn't quite ready for dirty diapers and midnight feedings.
Still the actor, 31, and wife of nine months Emily Blunt, 28, are getting plenty of parenting practice with Finn, a red Labrador retriever.
"We wanted to get a dog together," the actor tells Parade.com. "It's a huge boost to your confidence in the other person when you see how willing and able they are to take care of something with you. Normally you'll see one person get sidelined with 'I don't want to pick up poop' or 'I forgot to give the flea and tick medicine.' The fact is that we're both fantastic."
For her part Blunt has another reason for delaying motherhood.
"I grew up with a younger brother and sister who are quite a bit younger than me," The Adjustment Bureau star tells The Daily Beast. "So, at 8 years old, I was sitting there with a baby, probably really pissed off [because] he was puking on me."
But the actress assures, wee ones are on the horizon. "I don’t know when," she says. "But at some point, definitely."
For now the duo, who wed in Italy last July, are just enjoying each other.
"I had always heard, 'never date an actress — it's too competitive, too dramatic,'" says Krasinski. "But we're so lucky to have each other! She understands the stress level involved. She's perfect for me."
