American Idol's Pia Toscano is finally saying bye-bye to ballads!
On Wednesday's Top 9 performance round, the 22-year-old Toscano — known for her silky smooth slow tunes — delivered a rousing rendition of Tina Turner's "River Deep, Mountain High" that proved that she just might be this season's American Idol, if you ask UsMagazine.com.
Steven Tyler couldn't help but agree.
"Murderer! Murderer! You killed it!" Tyler bellowed after Toscano's powerful, self-assured performance.
Though Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson were pleased, they urged the singer to continue to push her limits. "All you need to do now is work on the movement," Jackson told Toscano. "Pia's in it to win it!"
Other standout routines during the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame Week round? Scotty McCreery's "That's Alright, Mama," originally performed by Elvis Presley, and Stefano Langone's soaring ballad "When a Man Loves a Woman." "It definitely felt like you were singing to somebody," Lopez told Langone. "It was magic."
