Unlike Jennifer Lawrence, Lenny Kravitz had never heard of The Hunger Games prior to being cast in the highly-anticipated fantasy flick.
"I hadn't read the book yet, so I didn't know what it was," Kravitz, 47, tells Rolling Stone. "I go out and get the book, read it — oh, wow."
When Director Gary Ross offered him the role of Cinna, Katniss' trusted stylist, the rocker-turned-actor began devouring the popular Suzanne Collins novels. "I'm really excited to be playing Cinna," Kravitz says. "Reading the book, I'm seeing everything: the Capitol, the arena, all this stuff. This world is going to be incredible."
The film, which hits theaters in early 2012, will be Kravitz' second feature film after his supporting role in Precious. "I'm not just trying to push my [movie] career forward to push it forward," he insists. "I want to do the right things. Precious was a great way to start, really low-key, and now this. We'll see where it goes from here."
