Kevin Hart became a father for the first time 12 years ago. But somehow he had never changed a diaper until recently. As far as parenting milestones, this was a big one for the Jumanji actor, so he took to his Snapchat on Wednesday, December 27, to document how it all went down.
Hart, who was left in charge of his 5-week-old son Kenzo while wife Eniko Parrish ran errands, admitted he was a bundle of nerves.
“I’m praying to God that this boy stays asleep until she gets back,” he said in one clip. But little Kenzo had other plans. Not only did the newborn wake up before his mama returned, but he had a wet diaper.
The comedian, 38, documented himself removing the soiled nappy, placing a new one on the baby and then putting the old one into a disposal bin. At the end, Hart proudly exclaimed: “Daddy did that!”
Hart, who is also dad of Heaven, 12, and Hendrix, 10, with ex-wife Torrei, revealed in May that left the dirty work to mom. “I have not changed a diaper. I’m around when the diaper is being changed, which makes me part of the process within the moment. All you have to do is find other stuff to do while it’s going down to keep busy,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “With a newborn, it’s very tough; they’re fragile, they need a mother’s touch; that’s not a father’s time.”
Hart and Parrish, who tied the knot in August 2016, welcomed Kenzo on November 21.
