She’s officially a royal now! After causing our collective jaws to drop with her stunning Givenchy by Clare Waight Keller wedding gown and slinky Stella McCartney reception dress on Saturday, May 19, the newly minted Duchess of Sussex stepped out for her first official appearance since earning her title in her most regal look yet.
Celebrating her father-in-law Prince Charles’ 70th birthday at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, May 22, Meghan sported a blush pink $790 silk-crepe pencil dress by British label Goat. With its sheer neckline and sleeves, the knee-length frock was perfect for an afternoon garden party, but it was her accessories game that solidified her status as a member of the royal family.
Much like her sister-in-law Kate Middleton does on the regular, the former actress sported a pair of sheer stockings with her Tamara Mellon Siren pumps. And unlike her previously understated hat designs, Meg seemingly embraced what will likely become her new go-to accessory with a bespoke wide-brimmed Philip Treacy topper. To complement the sophisticated style, the Duchess forwent her usual tousled updo in favor of a slightly off-center chic chignon.
In another nod to the Duchess of Cambridge’s style, Meghan swapped her favored shrunken handbag for a Wilbur & Gussie satin clutch that coordinated with her dress. And while she seemed to leave the stunning aquamarine ring Prince Harry gifted her from Princess Diana’s collection at home, her wedding rings were on full display. She finished off the perfectly polished look with a dainty bracelet, Vanessa Tugendhaft Idylle Earrings and her signature fresh-faced glow.
If today’s inaugural run is any indication, it looks like Meghan will have no trouble continuing her royal style streak.
