Until further notice, Kathy Griffin isn't welcome in Studio 1A.
The comedienne, 51, tells USA Today she's been "re-banned from the Today show" following an alleged spat with news anchor Natalie Morales, 39.
"I'm very excited," Griffin says. "I just want you to know, over the years since Suddenly Susan in 1996, I have been banned and re-banned from the Today show by several people. Katie Couric at one point. Matt Lauer at one point. This time my camp heard that it was actually Natalie Morales."
Though Griffin doesn't know Morales personally, they've appeared on The Marriage Ref together and also met backstage at Today. "What I heard from their team is that I was rude to her at the Golden Globes, which is funny because I didn't go to the Golden Globes," the fiery redhead explains. "But I did go to Golden Globes parties, which I didn't really belong at, so I know for a fact that I did a few interviews there, but I really knew that it wasn't my place to even be there."
Griffin, who is launching her own talk show April 19 on Bravo, adds that she's since become friendly with Couric, 55, and Lauer, 54. "[Katie] wasn't a fan for a while and finally came around," Griffin says. "We e-mail."
Lauer, meanwhile, "was over my crap," Griffin tells USA Today. "I made fun of him so much, and then I ran into him later at an NBC event, and I think he finally got it: 'OK, it's a joke. She's kidding.'"
The Today show did not respond to USA Today's request for comment.
