After grabbing the gold at the Olympics, some athletes have gone on to gain A-list status outside of sports with TV and movie roles.
Among the Olympians-turned-TV stars: Michael Phelps, who kicked off Saturday Night Live's 34th season just weeks after having his most memorable Olympic stint yet at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, where he took home eight gold medals.
As the NBC late-night sketch comedy's host, the 27-year-old athlete tried his hand at comedic acting in sketches like "McSwimmy," a parody of Grey's Anatomy, and a spoof on his 12,000 calorie diet.
Another sweet spot for Olympians has been on Dancing with the Stars. Out of the hoards of athletes-turned-dancers, pint-sized gymnast Shawn Johnson, 20, proved to be the most successful, winning the eighth season of the hit ABC dance competition.
Meanwhile star skier Lindsey Vonn, 27, and champion gymnast Nastia Liukin, 22, got a taste of scripted television during their cameos on Law & Order and Gossip Girl, respectively.
