Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter is reeling after the tragic, bizarre death of actor Johnny Lewis, who appeared on the first two seasons of his show.
On Wednesday, the body of the 28-year-old actor was discovered in a driveway after Lewis fell or jumped from a rooftop following a fight with his landlady, Catherine Davis. (Authorities believe Lewis may have beaten Davis, 81, to death.)
"Not sure if folks know this yet, but Johnny Lewis (Halfsack) died last night," Sutter wrote on his WhoSay page. "It was a tragic end for an extremely talented guy, who unfortunately had lost his way. I wish I could say that I was shocked by the events last night, but I was not. I am deeply sorry that an innocent life had to be thrown into his destructive path."
In 2004, Lewis made his big screen debut in Raise Your Voice, starring Hilary Duff. Though she has yet to comment, her sister Haylie tweeted her condolences Thursday.
"So sad to hear the news about Johnny Lewis," Haylie wrote on Twitter. "Such a nice and talented guy. RIP."
Lewis dated Katy Perry for about a year, from 2005-2006; one of Perry's BFFs, actress Shannon Woodward, also took to Twitter to express how shocked she was by the news of Lewis' passing.
"Johnny Lewis, I love you deeply and madly and always," she tweeted. "My heart is broken in a million little pieces. I will miss you every day."
