Gentlemen, start your engines! This year, not only is Britain's Got Talent superstar Susan Boyle kicking off her first-ever eight-date concert tour on Tuesday, July 2 — the singer is also jump-starting another very important project: her dating life.
The celebrated singer, 52, recently opened up to the Scottish Sun, explaining that she's ready to tackle some new experiences this year, chief among them finding herself a "good man."
"I want to find a man but it's hard with all the traveling I do," she told the paper. "I really want to start going on dates and I've asked my friends to set me up with a good man — if they can find one. I'd like to settle down one day."
Boyle first landed in the limelight after her impressive 2009 audition wowed the judges and struck a nerve with audiences worldwide, and she's been adjusting to life in the public eye ever since.
"It's something you gradually get yourself accustomed to," she explained. "I've only been doing this for four years. You just can't dive in at the deep end."
"If I'd gone into the business at 18, it probably wouldn't have done us much good because I wasn't very mature then," she added.
Fame seems to agree with Boyle. The singer has already sold more than 19 million albums since placing second in the singing talent competition and landing a recording contract, and has even slimmed down since her first brush with fame, thanks to cutting out the sweets.
As for romance, Boyle also admitted that her on-screen kiss with costar James Cosmo for upcoming film The Christmas Candle may have helped to spur her search.
"I have my very first 'husband' — which is very exciting. It's been a long wait," she joked of playing house with Cosmo on-screen. "I had to kiss him, too, as we had a kissing scene. It was my first on-screen kiss. It was lovely."
"I didn't know about the kissing scene when I signed up, but I wasn't complaining," she cracked.
