So sad! Ariana Grande’s grandpa Frank has died, and the already devastated singer sobbed as she watched brother Frankie Grande get the news live in the Big Brother household.
The “Problem” singer announced her sad loss late on Tuesday, July 22, via Twitter, with the words “I lost you to the summer wind.” The 21-year-old professional then managed to make the trip to New York shortly after his tragic passing, to appear on Good Morning America on Wednesday, July 23. And the heartbroken singer, who just about kept it together while on the set of the TV show, later revealed it was her grandpa’s wish she keep up her personal appearances.
“Thaaaanks to my best friends who stayed up with me all night talking and helped me pull myself together temporarily this am,” she wrote. “Only reason I made this twelve hour trip is grandps told me he wanted me to always be professional & fulfill my business commitments.”
The singer then shared a host of pictures of her beloved grandpa, including a snap of herself and her relative which looks like it was taken shortly before he died.
“This is the hardest thing imaginable but I’m so grateful that I got to spend this time with him & my family,” she continued. “If only y’all knew how amazing he was.. My [heart] hurts so much. It’s beyond broken but I got to hold his hand and watch him find his peace.”
But having returned to her family home after fulfilling her television commitments, Ariana had another challenge ahead. Her brother, Frankie, who is currently filming Big Brother, received the sad news of his grandpa’s passing via a letter written by the family. And unable to be with him in person, Ariana was forced to watch her brother’s reaction on a live TV feed.
“Watching @frankiejgrande talk abt grandps after reading our letter on the live feed,” the Florida native wrote as she updated her Twitter feed late on Wednesday evening. “Sobbing / laughing hysterically. love u frankie so much.”
