Case of mistaken identity? One photo caption sparked outrage on Twitter on Monday, Aug. 25, when the Los Angeles Times mislabeled a photo of Orange Is the New Black actress Danielle Brooks at the 2014 Emmys, calling her Parks and Recreation’s Retta.
A screen grab of the mistake quickly circulated on Twitter, reaching the outspoken Twitter savant Retta (whose full name is Marietta Sirleaf), who tweeted it to her more than 200,000 followers.
“Ohhhhhh @LATimes . . . (Peep it @thedanieb),” Retta wrote.

The TV stars talked to fans and to each other about the incident, offended that the respected paper made such an egregious error.
“@unfoRETTAble @latimes Oohh child! I guess all chocolate girls look alike. We all look a lot,” Brooks, 24, who plays Taystee on the popular Netflix show, tweeted.
“@thedanieb For. Reals.” Retta responded.
The L.A. Times was notified of the mistake by another fan, and quickly set to work fixing the caption. The paper’s official Twitter handle later tweeted, “Thanks very much; it's been fixed.”
Reflecting on the incident on Tuesday, Aug. 26, Brooks tweeted, “I love my girl @unfoRETTAble but we both work too hard for hollywood to just mix us up.“
