One air safety video to rule them all! Air New Zealand wins the title for most creative PSA with their new four-minute clip, inspired by Lord of the Rings.
The beloved trilogy (and its prequel Hobbit films) were filmed in New Zealand and many tourists still visit the country to view locations from the Oscar-winning franchise. The clip begins with two travelers, one wearing a Hobbit hat, rushing to catch their flight. When they get on board, the pair turn and notice, to their delight, that LOTR star Elijah Wood is sitting next to them.
The video then features Air New Zealand representatives dressed like popular characters from the series including Gandalf the Grey (played by Ian McKellen in the movies), Gimli (played by John Rhys-Davies in the movies), and Arwen (played by Liv Tyler in the movies).
In addition to Wood’s appearance, LOTR director Peter Jackson also drops in to offer some sage air safety advice. Wood, 33, who played main character Frodo Baggins in all three LOTR films, wrapped up the video, saying, “Thank you for embarking upon your journey with Air New Zealand. May your path always be guided by the light of the stars and may the future all the happiness and adventure our Middle Earth has to offer.”
