It's official! Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish are set to say "I do" this weekend, his rep confirms to Us Weekly.
The longtime partners, who underwent a civil partnership in 2005 and have been together for 21 years, are planning to marry in England now that same-sex marriage has been legalized there.
"We'll do it very quietly. But we will do it and it will be a joyous occasion and we will have our children [there]," John said in an interview with Matt Lauer in March 2014. "For this legislation to come through is joyous and we should celebrate it. We shouldn't just say, 'Oh, well, we have a civil partnership, we're not going to bother to get married'. We will get married."
Although it's unclear where exactly the couple will exchange vows, Furnish previously revealed they were considering being relatively low-key. "I think what we'll do is go to a register office in England…and take the boys with us, and a couple of witnesses."
John, 67, and Furnish, 52, met in 1993 after falling "in love very quickly," they gushed to Parade magazine. Together they are parents to Zachary, 3, and Elijah, 23 months.
