Time for the Best Album Ever? The boys of One Direction are swiftly moving on after the exit of band member Zayn Malik, planning their next record as a foursome.
Singer Niall Horan took to Twitter on Sunday, March 29, teasing what’s to come for the British musicians after Malik announced he was leaving the band on Wednesday, March 25.
“Had a sit down last night with the label, started organizing our writing sessions for the next album!” Horan, 21, wrote. “F–kkk yeaaaahhhh! Can’t wait!”
As the group reorganizes and prepares their studio return, crooner Liam Payne weighed in on One Direction’s future as well, thanking 1D’s famously loyal fans for their support.
“I can see a lot of people thanking us for staying but your the real Heros here thanks for not thinking it’s finished,” Payne, 21, wrote.
As the X Factor alums march on with an altered lineup, they will be recording tracks for a fifth studio album. The first One Direction album, Up All Night, hit stores in November 2011, reaching the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 and going multiplatinum.
Back when they were a quintet, Malik, Horan, Payne, and their two remaining bandmates Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, boasted a quick production schedule, turning around a new album every November since their debut. 1D dropped Take Me Home in November 2012, Midnight Memories in November 2013, and their most recent effort Four in November 2014.
Now down to four members, the “Best Song Ever” singers will presumably release their next album just as quickly. Amidst the shake-up, they are continuing to tour, hitting cities across the globe as a part of their On the Road Again Tour.
The Brits played a Zayn-less show in Johannesburg, South Africa this past weekend and are traveling on to Cape Town and Dubai in the coming days. In June, the teen idols are scheduled to play shows in Vienna, Oslo, and Helsinki, before arriving Stateside in July for a series of summer concerts.
