Two Bachelorettes, 25 suitors, and a whole lot of personality! The season premiere of The Bachelorette kicked off on Monday, May 18, with the introduction of several standout suitors, some of whom were memorable for their bizarre behavior, and others for their swag. Here, Us Weekly rounds up the strangest and on the flip side, the best of the bunch!
Shawn E., 31, an amateur sex coach from Ontario, Canada
He made quite the splash! Shawn, who deems himself an “amateur sex coach,” pulled up in the driveway of the mansion in a “carpool” — a car mimicking a hot tub filled to the brim with water. While Shawn was entirely drenched from his waist down, the girls squealed with delight over this creative entrance.
That was the extent of his winning moment. A clip from the episode later featured Shawn going way too into detail about anal beads with Britt.
Tony, 35, a healer from St. Louis, Mo.
Super strange vibes. Tony, who claimed that his specialty in healing is “flexibility therapy,” made a bizarre impact on Monday night’s premiere, beginning with his introduction to both Bachelorettes. He first walked up to Britt and said in a very charming manner: “I believe in love — a real kind of love, and I hope the universe provides.” While it seemed his delivery was genuine, he then walked over to Kaitlyn and regurgitated the same exact line.
After that interesting entrance, Tony’s second standout moment from the premiere arrived when he was asked to choose between Britt and Kaitlyn’s boxes. The New Age “healer” — who showed up with a black eye — placed his hands over both boxes to sense which energy levels were drawing him in or “pulsating.” Ultimately, he went with Britt.
Ryan M., 28, a junkyard specialist from Kansas City, Mo.
After being crowned the drunkest of them all during the meet and greet open bar, Ryan M. was eliminated on Monday’s episode and sent home by Chris Harrison. He is also notably former Bachelor winner Nikki Ferrell‘s ex-boyfriend.
Chris, 28, a dentist from Nashville, Tenn.
The sweetest first impression! Chris, a dimpled dentist from Nashville, made his entrance on Monday in a one-man cupcake contraption-type car. The 6’0” Southern cutie told the girls he wanted to make a “sweet” gesture for them.
Ian, 28, an executive recruiter from Los Angeles, Calif.
Front-runner alert! While Ian didn’t make a ridiculously memorable entrance on Monday, the 6’4” hunk made quite the first impression with viewers and with Kaitlyn during the premiere. His backstory is very intense and shocking: The former Princeton track star was in a car accident and “left for dead” on the side of a road. After immense physical therapy, he defied the odds and contrary to doctors’ prognoses, ultimately learned how to run again.
Brady, 33, a singer-songwriter from Nashville, Tenn.
The 6’2” musical talent made an impression with the ladies during the premiere with his sparkly eyes and sweet smile.
Shawn B., 28, a personal trainer from Windsor Locks, Conn.
Swooning for this Shawn! The fitness buff made quite the first impression on Monday for his ridiculously good looks. In fact, he looked just like another hot Hollywood hunk, with fans torn between either Calvin Harris or Ryan Gosling.
Former Bachelorette DeAnna Pappas tweeted about the tall hunk with chiseled features, noting what everyone else in America was thinking:
Oh my gahhhh, @taylorswift13 boyfriend on #TheBachelorette is super cute

Ben H., 26, a software salesman from Denver, Colo.
Certainly not least! The 6’4” salesman from the Rocky Mountain region definitely had girls swooning on Monday. Along with his adorable dimples, Ben also seems like one of the most grounded and normal guys in the group. (He even brought a sweet drawing from his niece to give to Kaitlyn!) Plus, it helps that he listed his favorite movie as The Sandlot.
