Former New York Rangers player Sean Avery was arrested in Southampton Village, New York, on Wednesday, Sept. 30, and charged with criminal mischief and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, Us Weekly can confirm.
According to authorities, the criminal mischief charge stems from an incident the day before, when Avery reportedly threw objects at passing vehicles. 27east reports that police radio transmissions on that day indicate that Avery had contacted authorities about cars speeding in the area.
During his arrest, the former National Hockey League player, 35, was also found to be in possession of two prescription drugs, acetaminophen and oxycodone, leading to his two additional charges. He was released on $500 bail.
And on Tuesday, Oct. 9, the athlete (who is due to marry his Sports Illustrated model fiance, Hilary Rhoda, on Saturday) shared a photo of what appeared to be a drug prescription list via Twitter.
