Rabbit’s back! Eminem brought his ma’s special sauce along while starring in a new NBA commercial for the Detroit Pistons, which made its debut on Monday, Oct. 26.
The Detroit native, 43, pokes fun at his 2002 hit “Lose Yourself” in the clip by referring to the lyric “mom’s spaghetti.” Clad in a black T-shirt and baseball cap, he raids a refrigerator and gets angry when he realizes that someone ate his food, which was clearly labeled “Moms Spaghetti.” The culprit? A Spalding basketball that uses noodles for its facial features.
“[Basketball] is sweaty, panels weak, regulation sized & heavy,” the Detroit Pistons’ official Twitter page captioned the footage, channeling the track. “There’s vomit on its leather already … #TheLongestOop @Eminem.”
The rapper added: “You only get one shot, do not miss your chance… to be part of #TheLongestOop.”
Eminem’s unexpected gig is in collaboration with “The Longest Oop” tracker. According to the team’s website, hometown heroes, former players, and celebrities have been passing the ball along (like an “alley-oop”) in anticipation of the home opener on Wednesday.
“Lose Yourself” was featured in Eminem’s 2002 drama 8 Mile, which was loosely based on the star’s upbringing. The tune went on to win Best Original Song at the 2011 Oscars.
