Over it. Gavin Rossdale opened up about his headline-making split from ex-wife Gwen Stefani in a new interview and said that he is more than ready to “move on” after things ended with the “Used to Love You” singer, 47, in August 2015.
Chatting with The Sunday Times for a profile published on Sunday, October 9, the Bush rocker, 50, spoke candidly about the end of his 13-year marriage to Stefani, with whom he shares sons Kingston, 10, Zuma, 8, and Apollo, 2.
“It’s like enough already. I’ve got to move on. Everyone has got to move on,” he told the British newspaper. “For me, it’s just thinking about the boys and how to prioritize them.”
Rossdale continued: “That’s the driving force behind everything. You just have to … I don’t know. Somehow you have to put one foot after the other and make it happen.”
As Us Weekly exclusively reported in November 2015, Stefani decided to pull the plug on her romance with Rossdale after she uncovered his long-term affair with their former nanny Mindy Mann, who cared for the couple’s three kids.
In an August 2016 cover story for Harper’s Bazaar — and in many other interviews — the No Doubt frontwoman revealed that breaking up with Rossdale was one of the toughest experiences of her life.
“It was the beginning of hell,” she told the fashion mag. “Like six, seven, eight months of torture, trying to figure out this big secret.”
After spending more than a decade together as husband and wife, Stefani said that her “dreams were shattered” when she filed for divorce. “All I wanted my whole life was to have babies, be married,” the blonde beauty shared, “like what my parents have.”
Since cutting the cord with Rossdale, the pop star has found love again with her fellow Voice coach Blake Shelton. Back in March, she told Refinery29 that the country crooner, 40 — who divorced second wife Miranda Lambert last July — “saved” her and even helped shape the sound of her latest album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like.
“I didn’t have any kind of musical direction for this album. Every song was written around emotions,” Stefani, who went public with Shelton in November 2015, told the site. “Of course [our relationship] was an influence. Musically, no. Every song was written purely out of whatever my heart was going through at that moment.”
She added: “You panic. It was a really super-unexpected gift to find a friend, somebody who happened to be going through the exact same thing as me, literally mirroring my experience. I don’t think it’s an accident that that happened. It saved me.”
