Till we meet again! Prince George and Princess Charlotte adorably waved goodbye to the gathered crowds on Saturday, October 1, as they left Canada with their parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton.
According to Us Weekly’s European Bureau Chief, Omid Scobie, thousands lined the harbor of Victoria, capital of British Columbia, to see off the royal family after their eight-day tour of the country.
Dressed smartly in a navy blue sweater, red shorts, and knee-high socks, George, 3, waved at Us as he got out of the car with William, 34, even doing a double-handed wave at one point.
While on the way to their waiting sea plane, 9-year-old Daniel Brachman attempted to give George a high-five, but the overwhelmed toddler left the young Power to Be representative hanging.
“It was really exciting to meet them, I wish that I asked them something but it was still really exciting,” he told Us afterward. “I tried to high-five [George] but he didn’t want to.”
George’s younger sister, Charlotte, 17 months, gave a tiny wave of her own as she stood on a jetty with her parents and brother getting ready to depart.
Once at the doors to the sea plane, Scobie reports that George tried to make a dash for the aircraft but only got to the first step before William placed his hands on his arms and turned him back around to give a final wave to the crowd.
“An impatient George looked at the plane, shuffled his feet and pulled on Williams’ hand before they all boarded the plane,” Scobie says. Once they were inside, he could be seen pressing his nose against the plane’s window before the family of four began their journey back home to London.
Saturday’s festive farewell caps off a week-long trip to Canada, during which the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge helped open the new Haida Gwaii Hospital and Health Centre, enjoyed a royal engagement with their kids at Government House in Victoria and took plane tours and went on fishing trips.
