USA! USA! USA! The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janiero, Brazil, are in full swing, and Team USA is currently leading the medal count. From swimming to basketball, here are the five events to watch during day five on Wednesday, August 10.
1. Men’s basketball, United States vs. Australia
Livestream: 6 p.m. ET
NBCSN: 6 p.m. ET
The heavily favored USA takes on Australia in the men’s preliminaries, lead by Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Paul George and more NBA stars. Anthony will likely break the all-time Olympic scoring record for Team USA. He’s currently just 16 points behind LeBron James.
2. Men’s 100-meter freestyle final
Livestream: 10:03 p.m. ET
NBC: 10:03 p.m. ET
After a rough start, U.S. swimmer Nathan Adrian will defend his gold in this event. He barely qualified during the preliminary heats, but came back with the fastest time in the semifinals. Fellow American Caeleb Dressel will also be competing in this race.
3. Women’s 4×200-meter freestyle relay final
Livestream: 10:55 p.m. ET
NBC: 10:55 p.m. ET
Missy Franklin and Allison Schmitt lead the charge as the reigning champs in this event and seek their second consecutive gold, with teammates Melanie Margalis and Cierra Runge.
4. Men’s Gymnastics Individual All-Around Final
Livestream: 3 p.m. ET
NBC: 8 p.m. ET
A day after the U.S. women’s gymnastics team took home the gold in team finals, Americans Chris Brooks and Sam Mikulak will represent Team USA in hopes of beating defending champion Kohei Uchimura of Japan.
5. Women’s Beach Volleyball, United States vs. Switzerland
Livestream: 8 p.m. ET
NBC: 8 p.m. ET
USA’s Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross will be up against the Swiss team of Isabelle Forrer and Anouk Vergé-Dépré in the last preliminary match. Walsh Jennings took gold at the London Olympics and Ross won silver, but they each played with different partners.
