One thing at a time! Jason Aldean definitely wants kids with his wife, Brittany Kerr — but not anytime soon. The country superstar opened up exclusively to Us Weekly about newlywed life during rehearsals for the CMT Music Awards in Nashville on Tuesday, June 7.
“We would love to. We kind of just wanted our time to enjoy being married and enjoy that first. It’s definitely something that we’ve talked about,” Aldean, 39, told Us at the Bridgestone Arena. “Once you have a kid, bring a baby in it, life as you know it changes drastically, for the better. It definitely changes. We’re just enjoying the newlywed life and being married and having fun with it right now.”
Us Weekly exclusively broke the news in March 2015 that Aldean and Kerr tied the knot in a seaside ceremony in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
“It’s actually been great. It’s fun, she travels with me, she’s out on the road with me most of the time,” Aldean told Us on Tuesday of their first year of marriage. “It’s cool. It’s nice to have her out there and not have to have that separation. I think it makes it easier to be on the road, and easier on the relationship.”
Aldean and Kerr met in 2012, when he was married to Jessica Ussery. He filed for divorce in April 2013, and the exes share daughters Keeley, 13, and Kendyl, 8.
“They’re into sports and very athletic, which is great for me,” Aldean told Us on Tuesday. “I’m all about going and seeing that stuff.”
