And it wasn’t even Wednesday! Melissa McCarthy chose a bright pink dress to walk the blue carpet at Elle’s Women in Comedy event in Los Angeles on June 7. Get the details on her statement-making style in today’s Red Carpet Daily, presented by AT&T.
The Ghostbusters star, 45, called on Judy B. Swartz for a custom creation. Her neoprene cocktail dress featured dramatic belle sleeves and a hem short enough to show off her Vince Camuto floral pumps. McCarthy, who rocked a matching pink lip and a wavy lob, sparkled in Neil Lane jewelry, and she carried a tan Halogen clutch.
At the event, McCarthy spent some quality time with her fellow Ghostbusters stars who also appeared on covers of Elle’s Women in Comedy issue: Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.
McCarthy, who plays Abby Yates in the film, opened up about connecting to her character. “I fight for them in probably the most annoying way. I hear myself saying to Ben [Falcone] or Paul [Feig, Ghostbusters’ director], ‘She wouldn’t phrase it that way,’” she told Elle. “I have to represent the woman I’m getting to be. Even if she’s fictitious, she’s always real to me: three-dimensional, flawed, loving, screwed-up, as real women are.”
Keep watching Red Carpet Daily for more bright dresses. Plus, Kourtney Kardashian took a break from her all-black ensembles and chose a crimson Julien Macdonald frock. Her neckline was so low that it nearly reached her belly button!
