May the force be with them! Prince William and Prince Harry visited the Star Wars film set at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire on Tuesday, April 19.
“Today The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry are traveling to a galaxy far, far Away…” Kensington Palace wrote via Instagram. As seen in subsequent photos, the brothers were all smiles on location, but it was Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) that really made Prince Harry’s day.
“Prince Harry has made a new friend…” the Palace captioned a picture of the pair hugging.
Princes William, 33, and Harry, 31, met with several production workshops and creative teams from the latest Star Wars installment, and said that they were “huge fans” of the franchise. (Kate Middleton chose to stay home with Prince George and Princess Charlotte.)
The royals also met with BB-8, a stormtrooper, Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and director Rian Johnson. Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ leading lady, Daisy Ridley (Rey) and John Boyega (Finn) were their tour guides. The cast began filming Star Wars: Episode VIII in London on February 15.
“Don’t forget BB-8 – The Duke and Prince Harry say hi to the @starwars cast!” another caption read. In one fun snapshot, Prince William laughed while checking out a mask of Ridley’s face.
The princes even grabbed lightsabers and had an impromptu fight while standing next to some set pieces. “Time for a @starwars laser battle!” the Palace wrote via Instagram.
“Come on, let’s dance,” Prince Harry said during the fight. Prince William replied: “We can do this later outside.”
Prince Harry also encouraged his brother to buy a toy for Prince George. “My godson would love one of these,” he said on Tuesday. “Your son would love one of these.”
