Six days, 21 engagements and, yes, 15 outfit changes! Before embarking on her April 10 tour of India and Bhutan with Prince William, Kate Middleton has been assembling a wardrobe brimming with “colorful, flowy dresses; fitted jeans and trousers; and a lot of casual fits,” a palace source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly.
In February, Kate’s private secretary, Rebecca Deacon, traveled to the region for some fashion recon. Says the insider, “She took note of the colors of each local setting, lighting and sunset times.”
Kate, 34, will leave nothing to chance. The mom of Prince George, 2, and Princess Charlotte, 11 months, created a “look book,” says the source, outlining what to wear “for every minute of the visit.”
She’ll mix up favorite labels, such as Temperley London and Alexander McQueen, with native designers for the tour. Adds the insider, “It’s tradition for royals to embrace local designers on foreign trips.”
As Us previously reported, the trip to India and Bhutan is the couple’s first official tour since their NYC visit in 2014. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge — who have never traveled to either country before — will begin the trip in Mumbai, where they will attend a Bollywood Charity Gala.
The pair will also tour Kaziranga National Park and visit with Elephant Family, honor the late Mahatma Gandhi in New Delhi and, finally, follow in the footsteps of Princess Diana by touring the famed Taj Mahal.
A palace spokesman previously told Us: “[William] feels incredibly lucky to visit a place where his mother’s memory is kept alive by so many who travel there.”
