Actor Trai Byers, who plays Andre Lyon on Empire which returns to Fox on March 30 at 9 p.m. ET, shared 25 interesting things about himself with Us Weekly.
1. Christmas is my favorite time of year.
2. I have an associate degree in theater, a bachelor’s in communications, an acting conservatory certificate and a master’s in acting.
3. I am a devout Christian.
4. I sing.
5. I write film scripts, lyrics and poetry.
6. I love The Simpsons.
7. Shakespeare is my favorite writer.
8. I am probably one of the goofiest people in the world.
9. I’m an action-film junkie.
10. I have just about every movie Denzel Washington has ever made.
11. I tap dance.
12. I hate Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror.” The lyrics are great, but my father played it for 12 hours straight on a car trip. To this day, that song makes me itch.

14. I first met Terrence Howard as an extra on the [2001] Martin Luther King Jr. film Boycott.
15. I was an extra in [2000’s] Remember the Titans.

21. At Yale, I lived in a studio apartment with one window facing a brick wall. I did this to build determination to never end up in a place like this, and to remind myself of my own responsibility to break through the brick walls of my life.
22. I went to three high schools, four colleges and I don’t know how many elementary schools.
23. In every play I’ve performed in, I’ve forgotten my lines at least once, in a noticeable way.
24. My favorite singer of all time is Sam Cooke.
