Period costumes, be gone! Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan are saying goodbye to their kilts and corsets for the cover of Saks Fifth Avenue’s Spring 2016 issue, Starz announced on March 3.
In advance of the show’s April 9 premiere — which will see the two main characters adjusting to life in 1700s Paris after their action-packed first season in Scotland — Balfe and Heughan rock Gucci outfits in very modern silhouettes instead of the powdered wigs and voluminous skirts that will wow viewers in the series’ second season.
“This exclusive partnership with Saks Fifth Avenue celebrates the stunning costumes from the series, while also featuring Caitriona and Sam in an amazing editorial spread as fashion and entertainment continue to intersect,” Alison Hoffman, executive vice president of marketing for Starz, said in a statement.
But the Golden Globe–nominated actress and Scottish native aren’t the only ones doing a time swap. Displays at the New York and L.A. flagship stores will feature actual costumes from the 13-episode season. “These windows are our gift to fans, giving them a peek into the second installment which features the finest 1700s Parisian fashion,” Hoffman continued. “This spectacle will certainly catch the eyes of passersby in New York and Beverly Hills.”
