Through thick and thin. Khloé Kardashian’s BFF Malika Haqq told Us Weekly at the NAACP Image Awards on Friday, February 5, that she believes the famous reality family will continue to stand behind Rob despite all the public controversy.
“They’re a family that’s always supportive. No matter how much they fight, I think anyone who’s followed them over the last 11 seasons can actually see that support is what they know best,” Haqq, 32, told Us. “They can fight like cats and dogs but nobody else can fight with them. They can do that with each other and keep it movin’.”
Haqq, who has made frequent appearances on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, added that Rob, 28, will be “just fine.”
“I saw Rob a couple of weeks ago,” Haqq said. “Rob is doing Rob, clearly. That’s what Rob is doing. I can’t say he’s bad. I can’t say he’s good. I can just say that he’s going through his vibe, which kind of excludes other people from the choice that he wants to make, and maybe that’s him growing from whatever discomfort he may have had.”
Late last month, Rob caused waves online when he and his new girlfriend, Blac Chyna, went public with their romance. Chyna, 27, previously dated Rob’s half-sister Kylie Jenner’s current beau, Tyga, and the exes share a 3-year-old son together.
According to a source, the new romance blossomed after Chyna and Kardashian “bonded over their pain.”
“Both of them felt f–ked over by the family,” the source said, adding that Rob was “seething” when he learned that his family was staging a health intervention in January. (The troubled reality star gained 100 pounds in two years, and was diagnosed with diabetes in December.)
The family was “shocked, confused and in disbelief,” a family insider told Us of the new relationship. “Kylie says Rob has stabbed her in the back.”
Meanwhile, Khloé, 31, was “superannoyed” at the situation.
“She knows he’s doing this with a purpose,” a friend of the Kocktails With Khloé host told Us. “She feels this is a jab at the family.”
