It’s Frozen — for adults! Icicle nail art is trending on Instagram and while we haven’t seen the look on A-listers just yet, there’s still time for nail art addicts like Kylie Jenner, Katy Perry and Rita Ora to jump on the bandwagon.
Not sure you can pull it off? Jin Soon Choi, celeb manicurist who works with Karlie Kloss, recommends wearing it on rounded nail beds. “They can make nails look longer and more elegant,” she tells Us.
Choi, who also owns three NYC nail salons, customizes the style for Us:
Step 1: Apply a base coat with a bonding formula. “Not only does it protect your nails getting stains from dark pigments, but it also helps adhere color,” she says. Try: Julep Stick It To Me ($18, Julep.com)
Step 2: Paint on two coats of a base color in green or blue. Try: Jin Soon Heirloom ($18, Jinsoon.com)
Step 3: Starting at either the cuticle line or free edge, paint thin curvy V shapes (think: abstract painting) at different lengths towards the center with a thin brush and white varnish. Fill in the icicles. Try: Sinful Colors Snow Me White ($1.99, Riteaid.com)
Step 4: Apply a top coat. Try: Deborah Lippmann Addicted to Speed ($20, Nordstrom.com)
