A sad day indeed. As news of Scott Weiland's untimely death at the age of 48 broke, his Velvet Revolver former bandmate Slash joined a host of other celebrities expressing their grief at the tragic event.
"Sad day. RIP Scott Weiland," the former Guns N' Roses guitarist, who later formed the supergroup Velvet Revolver with the late frontman, wrote via Instagram in the early hours of Friday, Dec. 4.
He shared a photograph of his pal performing on stage, and was joined in his expression of sadness by fellow former bandmate Dave Kushner who tweeted an identical sentiment: "RIP Scott Weiland."
As previously reported, Weiland died in his sleep in Bloomington, Minn., while on tour with his band The Wildabouts. Dave Navarro tweeted at 9:01 p.m. PT that "our friend Scott Weiland has died." The tweet was deleted, and Navarro later retweeted a message of condolence from a fan.
"Its not my loss, its our loss," Navarro messaged the fan. "Send your thoughts toward the family!”
As the news spread, other celebs including Juliette Lewis, Ryan Adams, Joe Perry, Taylor Momsen, and Alyssa Milano jumped online to pay their own tributes to the former Stone Temple Pilots frontman. See what they wrote in the messages below.
