A rep for Filipino teen singer Charice Pempengco denies that the upcoming Glee star, 18, underwent Botox to change her appearance.
According to the Associated Press, celeb cosmetic surgeon Vicki Belo tells ABS-CBN television that Charice received injections in an effort to make her "naturally round face" more narrow before she begins filming Glee later this month.
But her rep tells UsMagazine.com the point of the procedure was "to relieve a jaw problem similar to TMJ."
"It did not hurt; it relieved the pain," Charice's rep tells Us. "You've seen her face – she doesn't have a wrinkle in it so she wouldn't need it for cosmetic purposes. The Glee people are thrilled with the way she looks which is why she got the part."
Charice was raised by a single mother and sang in local contests before getting her big break on The Ellen DeGeneres Show at age 15.
She begins filming her Glee gig later this month. She plays a foreign exchange student who will serve as serious competition for lead character Rachel Berry (Lea Michele).
