Dory Jackson

When Staff Writer Dory Jackson is not writing her heart away at Us Weekly’s New York City office, she’ll likely be spotted hitting up a local concert, trying to catch up on the latest movie releases or bingeing television shows in the comfort of her bed. She’s often referred to herself as a pop culture snob with an emphasis on movies, whether it is the newest Marvel flick or an Oscar-bait indie feature. The Maryland native is also a loyal Taylor Swift devotee who has strong feelings about the outcome of The Bachelor franchise’s subsequent seasons.

Work or writing background leading to expertise

Dory has helmed journalism-related internships from her freshman to senior year of college that ultimately provided her the skills to land her first full-time gig at International Business Times, where she covered trending news stories across various news genres such as entertainment, business, health, politics and lifestyle.

After getting her start at IBT as a reporter, she later joined Newsweek‘s entertainment team as a culture writer. She covered breaking news stories mostly within film and television realm and conducted her own reporting. The position allowed her the privilege of interviewing A-list talents such as Alec Baldwin, Viola Davis, Kristen Bell, Michael B. Jordan, Zooey Deschanel and Olivia Wilde.

She’s attended high-profile events like the 2019 Academy Awards, the 2018 Video Music Awards, New York Comic-Con and Tribeca Film Festival.

Education

Dory was a communication studies major and journalism minor at Randolph-Macon College outside of Richmond, Virginia. She graduated from the liberal arts school in May 2016.
