Andrew Scott is an Irish actor born in Dublin on October 21, 1976. The theater, television and film star has received numerous awards and nominations including a BAFTA Television Award, Primetime Emmy Award and two Golden Globe Awards.

Though he’d been acting professionally since the early ’90s, Scott’s rise to fame began in 2010 for his role in the BBC series Sherlock. His portrayal of James Moriarty won a BAFTA Television Award for Best Supporting Actor. He later earned SAG and Golden Globe nominations (and went viral) for his role as Hot Priest in Fleabag. He starred as Tom Ripley in the Netflix series Ripley, for which he received Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations.

His films include the James Bond film Spectre, Tim Burton’s Alice Through the Looking Glass and the Oscar-winning 1917. In 2023, he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his role in All of Us Strangers.

In his theater performances, Scott has received great recognition for his role in A Girl in the Car with a Man, which earned him the Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre. Later in 2019, his portrayal of Garry Essendine in Present Laughter earned him an Olivier for Best Actor.

Scott was previously in a long-term relationship with writer Stephen Beresford until they had split in 2019.
