Anne Burrell was a celebrity chef and television personality best known for her appearances on Food Network shows like Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and Worst Cooks in America. Burrell developed an early interest in cooking and attended Canisius College in Buffalo where she earned a degree in English and Communications. She later enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America and studied at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners in Asti, Italy, to further her culinary training.

Burrell began her professional career working in several restaurants in Italy and New York City, including the famed Felidia under chef Lidia Bastianich. She later began working at Centro Vinoteca in New York City as an executive chef. Her breakout moment came when she started hosting Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on Food Network in 2008.

The chef became a household name with her hosting roles on Worst Cooks in America, Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell and numerous guest appearances on Iron Chef America, The Best Thing I Ever Ate, and Beat Bobby Flay.

She also published cookbooks, including 2011’s Cook Like a Rock Star: 125 Recipes, Lessons, and Culinary Secrets: A Cookbook.

Burrell was previously in a relationship with Koren Grieveson before tying the knot with Stuart Claxton in October 2021.

She died on June 17, 2025 after being found unresponsive in her home in Brooklyn.
