The Bravo personality was scouted by the Miss District of Columbia pageant during her time as a bartender and went on to win the title in 2011. She is also a certified yoga teacher.

Darby married real estate mogul Michael Darby in 2014. The pair welcomed their sons, Dean and Dylan, in 2019 and 2021, respectively. They announced their decision to separate in April 2022. During their marriage, Ashley and Michael opened a restaurant called Oz in Virginia. The establishment closed in June 2019.
