About

Brett Favre is a former NFL quarterback, born on October 10, 1969, in Gulfport, Mississippi. He played for 20 seasons, spending most of his career playing for the Green Bay Packers.

Favre played college football for the University of Southern Mississippi and was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round of the 1991 NFL Draft. He played one season as a backup before being traded to the Packers in 1992. He played 16 seasons with the Packers, leading them to seven division titles, four NFC Championships, two consecutive Super Bowls and one championship in Super Bowl XXXI. In 2008, he was traded to the New York Jets, and in 2009, he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings, until he retired in 2010.

Upon his retirement, Favre held the NFL record in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and quarterback wins. He was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) for three consecutive years, from 1995 to 1997. In 2016, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

In a 2021 interview, Favre shared that he was concerned about the long-term effects of his career on his health, wondering if cognitive issues were a sign of aging or an indicator of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). In September 2024, Favre announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

In 1996, Favre married author Deanna Tynes. The couple have two daughters, Brittany (born February 1989) and Breleigh (born July 1999).
