About

Tennis star Coco Gauff was born in Atlanta, Georgia before her parents, Candi and Corey, relocated the family – including Gauff’s younger brothers Codey and Cameron – to Delray Beach, Florida when Gauff was 7 years old to focus on their daughter’s blossoming athletic career.

A prodigy on the tennis court, Gauff made her junior Grand Slam debut at the US Open in 2017 at the age of 13. She became the youngest girls’ singles finalist in US Open history at the tournament, ultimately losing in the final to Amanda Anisimova. Gauff won her first career junior Grand Slam tournament title the following year at the 2018 French Open.

Gauff made her professional debut when she was 14 years old on the ITF Women’s Circuit in May 2018. Two months later, she became the youngest player to reach the Wimbledon main draw at the age of 15 years and 3 months.

At Wimbledon, Gauff defeated American tennis legend Venus Williams in the first round in straight sets, the first defining moment of Gauff’s professional career.

In 2022, Gauff reached her first Grand Slam singles final at the French Open. The following year, she won the 2023 US Open, her first major singles title, defeating Aryna Sabalenka in the women’s final.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Gauff was named one of Team USA’s flag bearers, alongside NBA superstar LeBron James, for the Opening Ceremony.

In November 2024, Gauf won the WTA Finals for the first time, the youngest player to win since Maria Sharapova in 2004.
