Drake Maye

Drake Maye is a professional football quarterback known for his arm strength, athleticism and rapid rise from college standout to NFL starter. The football prodigy was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, in a sports-focused family. Drake attended Myers Park High School, where he excelled in football and basketball. He committed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to play football, enrolling in 2021.

After initially serving as a backup, Maye took over as North Carolina’s starting quarterback in 2022 and quickly emerged as one of college football’s top players. His performance that season earned him ACC Player of the Year honors. His production and physical tools made him one of the most closely watched quarterbacks in the country.

Maye returned for the 2023 season and continued to post strong numbers while leading the Tar Heels offense. He declared for the NFL Draft following the season and was selected third overall by the New England Patriots in the 2024 NFL Draft. He entered the league viewed as a franchise quarterback with long-term potential and became a central figure in the Patriots’ rebuilding plans. He is set to appear with the Patriots at the Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026.

Maye eloped with his longtime sweetheart, Ann Michael Hudson, in 2025.
