Justin Trudeau

Justin Trudeau is a Canadian politician best known for serving as the 23rd Prime Minister of Canada from March 2015 to January 2025. Born in Ottawa to former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and Margaret Trudeau, he spent his childhood in the prime minister’s residence. He attended Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf and later earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature from McGill University in 1994 and a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of British Columbia in 1998.

Trudeau worked various jobs in education before he entered politics. He was elected MP for Papineau in 2008 then became leader of the Liberal Party in 2013. In 2015 he led the Liberals to victory reversing a decade of Conservative rule and served as prime minister until announcing his resignation in January 2025. Throughout his time in office, he championed progressive policies on climate, gender equality, immigration, Indigenous reconciliation and cannabis legalization.

Trudeau married television host and advocate Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in 2005. They have three children: Xavier James Trudeau (born 2007), Ella‑Grace Trudeau (born 2009) and Hadrien Trudeau (born 2014). The couple announced their separation in August 2023 and continue to coparent.
