About

Lindsey Buckingham is the lead guitarist and male vocalist of Fleetwood Mac. Buckingham was raised in a musical family and began playing guitar at a young age. He attended Menlo-Atherton High School and later enrolled at San José State University but left before graduating to pursue music full-time.

Buckingham began performing with then-girlfriend Stevie Nicks in the duo Buckingham Nicks, releasing a self-titled album in 1973. The pair joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975, contributing to the band’s new sound and commercial success. His songwriting and guitar work were central to the band’s 1977 album Rumours, which won the Grammy for Album of the Year and became one of the best-selling albums of all time.

He remained with Fleetwood Mac through multiple lineups and hiatuses, contributing to albums including Tusk (1979), Mirage (1982) and Tango in the Night (1987). As a solo artist, he released several albums including Law and Order (1981), Out of the Cradle (1992) and Lindsey Buckingham (2021). He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Fleetwood Mac in 1998 and was dismissed from the band in 2018.

Buckingham married Kristen Messner in 2000. They share children William, Leelee and Stella. In 2021, Messner filed for divorce but later withdrew the filing.
