Martha Plimpton is an actress known for her roles in The Goonies, Parenthood and Raising Hope. Plimpton is the child of actress Shelley Plimpton and actor Keith Carradine. She attended the Professional Children’s School in Manhattan, which allowed her to balance her education with early acting work.

Plimpton began acting in the early 1980s, landing her first film role in Rollover at age 10. In 1985, she landed her breakout role as Stef in The Goonies. Throughout the late ’80s, she starred in films like The Mosquito Coast (1986), Running on Empty (1988) and Parenthood (1989), establishing herself as a prominent young actress.

Over the years, the actress built a successful career in both film and television. She earned critical acclaim for her role in the Fox sitcom Raising Hope, which ran from 2010 to 2014, and received Emmy nominations for her work on The Good Wife and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. In 2012, she was awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series for her role on The Good Wife. She is also a Tony-nominated stage actress with numerous Broadway credits, including Top Girls and A Delicate Balance.

Plimpton was previously in high-profile relationships with actors River Phoenix and Jon Patrick Walker.
