Max George

Max George is a singer best known for being in the British boyband The Wanted.

Born Maximillian Albert George, the frontman grew up outside of Manchester. Before becoming a pop star, George was a footballer who played for Preston North End. After sustaining an injury, George decided to pivot his career and turned to music.

In 2006, George and his band Avenue auditioned for X Factor. The group made it to the final 12 but were disqualified from the competition after they signed a contract with a management firm before the competition series. Avenue ultimately signed a record deal with Crown Music Management and released their debut single “Last Goodbye” in 2008. Avenue disbanded the following year.

One year after Avenue broke up, George auditioned for a new boy band named The Wanted. He was selected as one of the members alongside Nathan Sykes, Siva Kaneswaran, Tom Parker and Jay McGuiness. In 2010, they dropped their first single “All Time Low” which went No. 1 in the U.K. Following The Wanted’s success in the U.K., the group crossed over into the American music market with their breakout single “Glad You Came.”

After The Wanted went on an indefinite hiatus in 2024, George pursued additional projects including a solo music career, modeling and acting. In 2020, George competed on Strictly Come Dancing.

George was previously engaged to actress Michelle Keegan from 2011 to 2012. He’s also been romantically linked to Nina Agdal, Amy Willerton, Carrie Baker and Stacey Giggs. George has been in a relationship with EastEnders actress Maisie Smith since September 2022.
