Mod Sun

Derek Ryan Smith, better known as Mod Sun is a musician and singer-songwriter who began his career as a drummer for post-hardcore bands, including Four Letter Lie and Scary Kids Scaring Kids.

He transitioned to a solo career in 2009, adopting the name “Mod Sun,” an acronym for “Movement on Dream, Stand Under None.” He has since released multiple projects, including four solo studio albums, three EPs, six mixtapes and numerous singles. His music blends elements of pop, hip-hop and punk.

In 2023, Mod Sun also dabbled in the film world, cowriting the film Good Mourning alongside Machine Gun Kelly.

Mod Sun dated actress Bella Thorne from 2017 to 2018 and later had a relationship with social media influence Tana Mongeau from 2018 to 2020. The following year, he began dating singer Avril Lavigne, and the couple announced their engagement in March 2022. However, they broke up in February 2023.

In November 2024, Mod Sun was romantically linked to Brittany Wisniewski, a previous Love Is Blind season 7 alum. One month later, Mod Sun confirmed their relationship to TMZ.
