
Naomi Osaka
Naomi Osaka is a professional tennis player known for being a four-time Grand Slam singles champion and the first Asian player to hold the No. 1 ranking in singles by the Women’s Tennis Association. Born in Osaka, Japan, she moved with her family to the United States at age 3and grew up in New York and Florida. Osaka trained at the Harold Solomon Tennis Academy and later the ProWorld Tennis Academy before turning professional in 2013.
Osaka rose to international fame in 2018 when she won her first Grand Slam title at the US Open, defeating Serena Williams in a highly publicized final. She followed with an Australian Open title in 2019, making her the first woman to win consecutive Grand Slam titles since 2001. Known for her powerful baseline game, she has also become a global ambassador for major brands and was the first tennis player to light the Olympic cauldron at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Games. She took time away from tennis for maternity leave before returning to the professional tour in 2024.
In her personal life, Osaka entered a relationship with rapper Cordae in 2019. The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Shai, in 2023 before splitting two years later.
