
Rufus Sewell
Rufus Sewell is an English actor known for his roles in period dramas and political thrillers including The Man in the High Castle and The Diplomat. Sewell was born in London, where he was raised by his mother after his father’s death when he was 10. He studied at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama before beginning his career on stage.
Sewell gained early attention with roles in British films such as Carrington (1995) and Hamlet (1996) before breaking out internationally in Dark City (1998) and A Knight’s Tale (2001). He went on to appear in projects including The Illusionist (2006), The Holiday (2006), The Father (2020) and Old (2021). He’s established a presence on television with roles on shows like The Man in the High Castle and Kaleidoscope. In 2023, he began starring opposite Keri Russell in Netflix’s The Diplomat.
Sewell was married to Yasmin Abdallah from 1999 to 2000. He later moved on with Amy Gardner, and the pair were married from 2004 and 2006. The former couple share one son, William, whom they welcomed in 2002. He also shares a daughter, Lola (born in 2013), with Ami Komai. He eloped with actress Vivian Benitez in 2024.
