
Sean Kingston
Sean Kingston (born Kisean Paul Anderson) is a Jamaican-American singer and rapper. Kingston was born in Florida and moved to Jamaica at age 6. Kingston went on to attend Ocho Rios High School for three years before returning to the United States. His grandfather, Lawrence “Jack Ruby” Lindo, was a renowned reggae producer, influencing his musical path.
Kingston’s career took off after being discovered on YouTube in 2007 and signing with J.R. Rotem‘s Beluga Heights Records. His debut single, “Beautiful Girls,” topped the Billboard Hot 100, leading to his self-titled debut album, Sean Kingston, which reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200. The album also featured the top 40 single “Take You There.”
In 2009, Kingston released his second album, Tomorrow, featuring the hit “Fire Burning.” He cowrote Jason Derulo‘s “Whatcha Say” and discovered singer Iyaz, signing him to J.R. Rotem’s label. His third album, Back 2 Life (2013), included the moderate hit “Beat It,” featuring Chris Brown and Wiz Khalifa. He went on to release his fourth album, Road to Deliverance, in 2022.
The rapper has contributed to the soundtracks of multiple movies and has made a handful of on screen appearances, including on The Hills and The Wendy Williams Show.
In July 2024, he and his mother were indicted on federal wire fraud charges, leading to their convictions in March 2025.
