
Tisha Campbell
Tisha Campbell is an actress and singer best known for starring in the sitcoms Martin and My Wife and Kids. Campbell was raised in Newark, New Jersey, attending the Arts High School. Her mother was a vocal coach and talent manager who helped guide her early career.
Campbell made her screen debut in 1986’s Little Shop of Horrors. She later gained recognition with her role in the dramedy School Daze (1988), directed by Spike Lee. Her breakout came in 1992 when she was cast as Gina Waters on the hit FOX sitcom Martin, a role she played from 1992 to 1997. She later starred as Janet Kyle on ABC’s My Wife and Kids, which earned her an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series.
In addition to her sitcom success, Campbell appeared in films such as Rooftops (1989), Boomerang (1992) and House Party (1990) and its sequels. Her later work includes roles on shows such as Dr. Ken, Empire, Uncoupled and Act Your Age.
She has also pursued music and her eponymous debut R&B album in 1993.
Campbell married actor Duane Martin in 1996. The couple had two sons, Xen (born in 2001) and Ezekiel (born in 2009), before divorcing in 2020.
