Zachery Ty Bryan

Zachery Ty Bryan is an actor best known for playing Brad Taylor on the hit sitcom Home Improvement. Bryan was born in Aurora, Colorado, and later relocated to California to pursue acting. He was discovered by a talent representative while performing in a showcase and soon began booking commercial work. He later balanced his acting career with his education, though much of his early years were focused on working steadily in television.

Bryan got his big break in 1991 when he was cast as Brad, the oldest son of Tim Allen’s character on Home Improvement. The ABC series ran from 1991 to 1999 and made the actor a household name. After the sitcom ended, he expanded his footprint in film, landing roles in movies like Held For Ransom (2000), The Game of Their Lives (2005) and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006). He also made guest appearances in shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Knight Rider.

Bryan married Carly Matros in 2007. The former couple share four children: twin daughters Taylor and Gemma (born in 2014), daughter Jordana (born in 2016) and son Pierce (born in 2019). They announced their separation in 2020. Bryan later became engaged to Johnnie Faye Cartwright and they share three children together: daughter Kennedy (born in 2022) and twins Parker and Sequoia (born in 2022). In February 2026, Bryan pled guilty to a DUI charge and was sentenced to 16 months in jail.
