Blake Lively’s post-baby bikini body in The Shallows didn’t come easy. The actress, who is now pregnant with her second child, revealed during an interview with The Kyle & Jackie O Show Tuesday, August 16, that she eliminated all processed foods and worked out to shed her first pregnancy pounds.
"I did no gluten and no soy," Lively revealed of how she got those rock-hard abs just eight months after welcoming daughter James. "Once you remove soy, you realize you're eating no processed foods. So that's basically what I did. No processed foods and then working out."
Although eliminating soy may sound simple, Lively explained it was actually kind of difficult. "[It] seems like, 'Oh, that's really easy to cut that out,' but then you realize, there's soy in everything," she said. "Like, everything you eat, there is soy in it. Even if it's healthy, Whole Foods organic stuff, there's always soy in it. Just try no soy and no gluten and watch how hard that is," she added.
That said, Lively was still “able to have sugar and all of those things,” she explained. “You just have a balance of protein, carbs and vegetables. It wasn’t the worst. Like, I was eating rice and sushi.”
She was, however, tempted to eat more indulgent foods. "That was the hardest part," Lively concluded of her strict diet. "They were making these fresh muffins every morning — those jackasses. They smelled so good!"
