"Always start detangling from the ends and work your way up," Townsend tells Us. "If you just comb from the root down, you push all the tangles together, creating one huge knot, which can be disastrous."

Townsend, who works with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, also suggests arming yourself with a brush (not a wide-toothed comb!) with give. "I use the Harry Josh Pro Tools Detangling Brush," he tells Us.
