Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar may have a brood of 19 kids and counting, but if you ask the reality TV matriarch, that's just how she prefers it.
In fact, the Arkansas-based Duggar admits she doesn't believe in overpopulation. "Well, first off, the idea of overpopulation is not accurate because, really, the entire population of the world, if they were stretched shoulder to shoulder, could fit within the city limits of Jacksonville," Duggar reasons in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network.
Jacksonville, Fla.'s land area amounts to between 758-885 square miles, and with the world's population numbers just over seven billion, that would equal approximately 8,500,000 people per square mile.
The Duggar family — which includes Joshua (who is married with two kids of his own); twins Jana and John-David; Jill; Jessa; Jinger; Joseph; Josiah; Joy-Anna; twins Jedidiah and Jeremiah; Jason; James; Justin; Jackson; Johanna; Jennifer; and Jordyn and Josie — are certainly doing their part to be resourceful in their community, says Michelle.
"Our motto is we buy used and we save the difference. We go to the thrift store and we reuse [clothes] — and boy do we get lots of uses out of 'em," she tells the Christian Broadcasting Network. "We teach our children to be givers and not takers."
Argues the controversial TV mom, quoting the late Mother Teresa: "To say that there are too many children is like saying there are too many flowers. Our world needs more joy."
